Kamalakeertana is a site for children interested in the field of Carnatic Music and in rememberence of Late Kamala T Avadhany.

Kamala T. Avadhany Memorial Award is being instituted (as is obvious from the title) in memory of Late Smt Kamala T. Avadhany. Sponsors of this award are her children, Sri Venkatesh Avadhany, Sri Nagesh Avadhany and Dr. Sandhya Avadhany. The basic and main objective of this award is to encourage child prodigies. As a ten year old child, Kamala Avadhany gave a public performance in Carnatic classical (Vocal) in Bangalore that virtually was her first and last.“Looking back we (sponsors) feel that the talent bestowed by the Almighty on her was not harnessed to its full potential. We can find many reasons for her not blossoming into an artiste of repute but today they are of no consequence. We want to look to future instead of dwelling into the past. We would not like such talents to whither away. Our sincere hope is that through such encouragements the talents can be cultivated, and utilize all opportunities on the way to pursue their interest in Music either as a serious hobby or as a profession itself.” Therefore, the sponsorers have proposed this event targeting this age group. The rules of the competition have been made tough intentionally to identify truly talented children amidst us keeping in tune with the spirit behind the event.
We the promoters of this event extend warm welcome to each and every budding artist. This is our humble attempt to nurture native talent and tell them that “we care for you”.  We also request rasikas and all those who believe in promoting classical music to come in large numbers, enjoy the music and cheer the young talent.
